Will the current G80 (8800GTX/S) be able to run the first gen DX10 games at their highest settings or will i haft to wait for the 2nd gen of DX10 cards to do that?
The last i heard was that the ATI DX10 cards should be out Q1 2007 and there's no news about the 8900 series. I don't think they will be out any time soon since the 8800 was just launched and i think they are concentrating on the mid range DX10 cards right now.
By the way i was reading it on a forum here that Nvidia 88xx series cards are not compatible with Vista, but i can not find that thread anymore i guess it was locked or deleted or something. I was reading the "Games for Windows" magazine's January issue and i came across this article. I thought it would be interesting to share it with all the none believers out there.

The only thing missing ATM for the 8800 series are Vista compatible drivers, a moot point since the OS isn't out for consumers. Enterprises with access to Vista are highly unlikely to buy an 8800(assuming the people purchasing know what theya re doing), theres plenty of time for Nvidia to get the drivers right.
I just picked up the January issue of the Maximum PC magazine and it has a pretty long and detailed explanation of what DX10 is and you can see some DX9 vs DX10 screenshots from Age of Conan as well as it explains how the new 8800 cards work. Very nice article. If you are interested pick up the magazine.
