Well, we have plenty here! And they are cheaper than 7900gs. 7900gs are still@210 euros. Bought the MSI/ATI@180 euros!!

Right now, I'm playing oblivion. I've waited for this day to arrive!! I knew that oblivion wasn't playable with my old gfx.

Greece isn't considered "east europe" even if it's south/east.

East EU is Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova. And they are a little behind technologically speaking

Is it really important to let everyone know you got a new card, it's not like they are in short supply or super fast or even new.

Maybe they're not in short supply in US, but they are quite rare in EU.
+ it's currently the best performance/cost ratio card out there.

(at least until G84,G86 come out...)

I have the score from 3dmark06 for 6800gs@1024x768 = 1502 3DMarks

1950 PRO 256mb@1280x1024 = 4594 3DMarks

I will run 1024x768 and compare

Well in US they might be in all stores for months. Here we are kinda slow. For me it's a great step forward.

Yeah, the X19xx's really shine in NFS:Carbon. Here is a review, where you can see the X1950 pro crushes the 7950GT and the X1800XT in that game. It more than doubles what the 7900GS can do. I just upgraded from a X1800XT to a X1950XT and the difference in NFS: Carbon was huge(just like in that review).

Enjoy the card, stinks you didn't get the nice cooler though.

(Or maybe I will.... Anyone recommend a good after-market heat-pipe cooling solution for an X1950Pro?)

Well I had a choice of two. Go MSI or Gecube. Gecube had a fan blowing the opposite direction (into the case) and isn't a certified ati partner anymore (so I've heard) which means normal ATI catalyst drivers won't work with it. Had I known that it wasn't the dual slot design maybe I would have waited till after xmas. But then again the reference cooler seems to do the job, 35*C idle, 54*C full load. It's a little audible, more than my other fans. I will consider a different cooler solution later on. Or maybe I'll just sell it when midrange DX10 cards arrive and theres a sufficient DX10 games out there to make it worth it. I estimate September 2007. Agh so much to decide. Well better shut up and go win a couple of races at carbon. (I suck at downhill drift, need a better car)

I bought the sapphire version, its got a single slot cooler.

Haven't got it yet, so when i do i'll let you know what the cooling is like.

maybe my cpu is a little better than yours, but my m/b has a pci-e 4x, not 16x. I'm guessing I'm losing around (guesstimate) 800 points in 3dmark06.

Well I was kinda pissed off from the fake photos. Also believed that a dual slot cooler would cool even better, but observing the temps, I guess stock cooling is just as good.

not to mention dirt cheap. It allowed me to keep my old drr400 and my psu.
it doesnt o/c well but it's been rock solid so far!

Well I coulda had better results, but I'll need some high quality DDR2-800 and a p965 m/b. can't afford any of these right now.

with dx10 coming out, everyone know's that for new games they'll need a dx10 card.

rather than spending 300$ on one of these, why got grab the 400$ gts 8800...

that way you wont be stuck paying for the switchover to the dx10 cards so soon....?

let them spend their money there on way. hell they couldve been advised by the very best compu geek in the universe to buy a dx7 and been told to oc it to 2ghz and hardmod it.

also, ddnt you read that it has pcie x4? if the x1950 pro gets bottlenecked wth would you think of would have happend with the 8800 series?

like I said, I'm planning to keep this card till summer, assuming there are enough dx10 games to justify the upgrade. I will try to get a proper m/b and some ddr2 ram till then. Not all of us can afford 450$ for a gfx. I would get the midrange dx10 (when they do come out).

Is it worthwhile to pay the extra $$$ and get the 512mb version? Is it really that much faster?

Me thinks they will be 9 and 10 compatible. Besides, it will be a long time before i upgrade to Vista, and in the meantime, the pro rocks.

wth ? how do you know it will be dx10?
how does valve expect to sell it if almost 90% of people wont be able to run it? ( keeping in mind that gamers usually arent the first ones to jump to vista or any new os [ by microsoft])

Video Card Memory Analysis: 256MB vs. 512MB

well....where i got it from the 256 mb version was selling for £158 and the sapphire 512 mb one was on a one week offer of £151   sooooooo....i just took it. Plus compared with most other sites the 256 Mb version sells for around £149 any way. so who cares about £2 extra.

I just wanted a card i could use for another year or so till all the really good DX10 games came out and it was worth getting a DX10 card. Plus I needed to extra money to buy a new mobo and core 2 duo processor rather than buy the 8800 and have nothing to plug it into  

I don't think that DX9.c will be going away anytime soon. How many gamers you think have upgraded their gfx to a 8800? Not even 0.1% globally. Most people will wait and see what happens just like me. People will buy the midrange line a lot more than upper supper line. There will be no exclusively dx10 game only. They will be backwards compatible.

Also I'll wait about 9-12 months to upgrade to vista. That is until I'm satisfied that there are enough games+applications to justify the migration.

iv finally finished building my system and tried it out on the 3dmark products.

my card: Sapphire X1950 pro 512Mb AGP


Old system: p4 2.5 ghz, 2gb DDR400, x1950 pro agp 4x

Results: 3dmark05 - 4806 (1024x768) , 3dmark06 - 3200 (1024x768)




New system: core 2 duo E6600 @stock speed, 2Gb DDR400, X1950 pro agp8x

Results: 3dmark05 - 10127 (1024x768) , 3dmark06 - 6070 (1024x768)


talk about a big difference thanx to the new processor.

If i get the time i'll test it out with the 1280X1024 and let u know how that turns out

Asrock 775dual-vsta (cause I had DDR1 memory and couldnt be bothered to get DDR2)

why did you bought the agp version if you had this "godly" budget mobo? I have it as well and bought the pci-e version of the 1950 pro. pls post your 1280*1024 3dmark06 results.

I only have 1 gig ram, I'm beginning to think that another gig will make a big difference. maybe in a month or two, I'll go and buy some ddr2 ram.

cause i bought the card before i had the money to get a mobo+cpu and my old mobo was agp only :roll:

okay, at 1280x1024 i get a 3dmark06 score of 5092 points.

sm 2 score: 1901
sm 3 score: 2154
cpu score: 2093


Im pretty sure it can do better, but my ram is not very good
