I'm building a new gaming rig. My aging p4 wont cut it anymore and I don't want to dump any more cash for a new video card. I was getting ready to buy the e6600, but then the announcement of the cuts are coming, which bring the e6700 or the q6600 into range. This is not going to be overclocked, pairing it up with an 8800 gts/gtx not sure yet, I guess I could wait a couple more months, what do you guys think, btw will a 700 psu power all this ?

Thanks

If you want to wait, wait. If you don't, don't.

Either way, I'd buy the 6600 over the 6700 any day. Non-overclocked, they should both kick plenty of ass for gaming. Overclocked, you'd hit pretty much the same ceiling on both. I wouldn't bother with quad for gaming just yet.

Also if you wait a couple of months the 8800 price might come down a bit when R600 is released.

And a 700W PSU should handle that just fine, I think.
