Anyone have any thoughts on PNY memory? I was looking at the current combo deal at newegg.com for 2 GB (2 x 1 GB sticks) of 667 Mhz DDR2 and a PNY 8800 GTS for $550 shipped.

My system specs are:

E6400 w/Big Typhoon
Gigabyte DS3
1 74 GB Raptor - system drive
1 160 GB SATA - storage drive

currently...
1 (2x512) GB Nanya DDR2 533Mhz
GeForce 6800 (vanilla)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The last PNY memory I bought was a 128mb stick of SDRAM. There's a reason for that.

I'm sure they'll have improved by now and that thing does seem REALLY good value. From previous experience PNY are good with their Customer service and my previous graphics card from them performed very well (6600GT).

I say go for it and if not happy send it back!

Thats a helluva good deal... at least $70bucks cheaper than individual pricing.

3 - 3 - 3 - 6 timings at 2.2v... SLI ready certified... Lifetime Warranty... Free 24 hour service.

5 year warranty on the vid card after registration...

go for it.

That's a very good deal, considering you're getting 2GB RAM + a graphics card that retails at $450. I haven't heard bad stuff about PNY, but you should check around a bit... they seem like a decent company.

PCAnanlyst - Wow, that's a lot of good information there, mind pointing me to the source? (I'm not questioning the data, would just like to read up on some myself - kept coming up empty on Google).

BTW - just pulled the trigger on it. Decided it was to good of a deal not to try it.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

I want to apologize for the quick to respond comments. I simply went to the Pony website and clicked on the link for DDR2 667 Memory and assumed it was the first one that came up... not realizing they do have lesser modules... which alas... is the set offered in that combo.

I went to Newegg and clicked on the manufacturers link and it takes you straight to the module info.

Though they are more expensive than the kit I looked at the are also double the capacity... and not of the Micron Flavour.
