Do all these brands have equivalent specs? Or are some brands faster then others? Why all the price differences? Why shouldnt every consumer chose the cheaper Asus version? Whats the catch.

They are all exactly the same for the most part, they are all based off the nvidia base design, such as the evga, bfg, and ecs 680i mobo's. The only difference will be the support and accessories you get from the manufacturer you buy from(hince why some may opt for an eVGA over asus for support.), now when they start shipping overclocked models there will be differences, or when different coolers arise. I think XFX has an overclocked model now.

Right now the only difference in between them is the stuff that comes with your card and or extra software, and the support just like mabaty said. For example i think Asus or Evga i can't remember gives you a GRAW with the card where BFG gives you a t-shirt and mouse accessories and stuff. I personaly love BFG cards, so i got the BFG version of the 8800 GTX, but thats only because i had past good experience with the company.

I am a BFG fan boy :)

As far as speed of the card concerned they are all exactly the same. The sticker on the card is different for the different brand.

Ok thank you all for your valuable input.

Why then do companies claim that for example a Asus 8800gtx, cannot be SLied with a BFG 8800gtx if all which is different is color and stickers?

Because they want you to get both cards from them not just one if you wanna go SLI :)

By the way why would you get 2 different branded card anyways ?

just out of curiousity, checking if BFG was bullshi*ing or not. I thought it was a contradiction saying at the same time they are the same cards, but cannot be SLied together, it made me wonder what the truth really was.

I'm an eVGA fanboy for NVidia cards. :P

However, the eVGA 8800GTX shipped with Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, which is a tremendously fun game. I believe eVGA's GTS offering does as well, but I'm not entirely sure on that.

Well. what if today Asus is cheapest, then 8months from now Leadtek is the cheapest. They could be combined for the most affordable solution possible. Why not get the more affordable sli solution if there is no difference besides branding, why not combine them?

well, a lot of people go with evga because of their step-up program and warranty. and they do offer Dark Messiah for gts as well

I buy superduper card "a" and superdeduper card "b" comes out next week I send card "a" back and the full price is put towards card "b"

buy the cheapest one available, accessories are marketing gimmicks, availablilty however will also be a deciding factor, I had to get gainward 8800gtx at 470 because at the time it was the only one available on dabs, about two hours after I placed my order it dropped £40

I read a review on MadShrimps I believe ( wish I could find it) where they tested the OC capabilities of the individual suppliers. The eVGA card came out on top for most of the Benchies... Temp, Core, Memory to name a few...

The diferences were measured from an OC standpoint so if you are not going to OC then I would say go with the cheapest Card.

Sparkle took the ref board and added Two fans - Looked very nice but the added fan heat counteracted the cooling negatively... and it didn't fare very well against any of the other cards... coming in dead last on most setups.

MSI was also mentioned as a pretty good choice for OCing aloowing the second most increase in speeds with lower temps.

Again I apologize for this being entirely from memory and If it were the case that someone find the article I would appreciate the Link myself.
