I don't think so - the chips have to have the same 'codename', and I think the 1900 is something like R560 and 1950 is R580 or something like that.

That's from memory so don't take it as gospel, but I'm pretty certain you can't.

well the X1900's are R580 and the X1950's are listed as being R580+.
to my lack of expertise, it looks close enough to me :lol:

Hmmm, well if you want to take that risk....

Someone like Cleeve would know exactly what's what. I wouldn't risk it though.

1950 pro doesn't have anything to unlock really. Theres no point in flashing it with a bios of 1900xt. Just o/c it if you need the extra juice.

i need the extra juice! 8O
i've overclocked my X1900XT (past XTX standards). but NWN2 runs really slowly at 1920x1200.
a X1900 CF edition card is more expensive than a X1950XT-X card! that's just very sad! :(

NO, the architecture is too different, and most impoertantly it's the need for a master card for the X1900XT for compositing and Xfire functionality, and the X1950 does that on chip, and doesn't cmmunicate with the other card in the same way as another R580.

It may be an X19xx + X19xx, but it's an R580 + an RV570, not similar designs, like and R580 + and R580+.

The only way to make it work is to know enough to hack the drivers youself, and rewrite them to do dynamic supertiling or PCIe based AFR support without ATi/AMD help/approval.

Here's the 'officially' compatible list;

thanks for that!

i'm no guru, so hacking drivers is not an option. guess i getter start saving then!
