Yes, I'd like to see Toms Hardware have a new section on their forum about alternative forms of personal transportation like electric powered bikes, scooters etc.I have read that the average American (U.S.) commutes 15 miles per day and am looking at alternative forms of personal transportation.Since this involves newer technologies I thought that an area might be considered for this for discussion, reviews, opinions. This could possibly include personal electric mobility devices like the segway, small scooters (practically skateboards with electric power),electric bikes with electronic controllers and faster electric scooters (like mopeds and motorcycles). There are electric bikes that go as fast as motorcycles however these are not legal to ride on the streets.
Some of these items especially the very inexpensive ones are not very reliable and have frequent failure whilst others are quite reliable.
This for instance is just one example.Note this particular ebike is not street legal but it looks like a great quality bike.
They do make street legal ones though (somewhat expensive not too bad).

Here is a cheap scooter (Not sure how reliable it is -won't comment on this) more like a skateboard

This is a scooter more like a .49 cc gas powered scooter (like a moped).

Here is a great video and the description below the video is quite informative

And who can forget the Segway which would fir in the catagory.
One thing about Street Legal electric bikes is that it make commuting on a bike a lot easier for short distances whilst the rider can get a little exercise AND get one to work very economically (much cheaper than car costs (Vehicle,Maintenance,Fuel,Insurance,Towing,Tickets etc).In addition with less larger vehicles hoarding the roads there would be much less traffic congestion, the rider will experience better health and lose weight. Many will also say the environment will be cleaner too (I am more interested myself in economic savings and making it fun for one to exercise while on their destination).
With possible difficult economic times ahead these forms of personal transportation might be far more common.
Note these vehicles are not adequate for long distances, high speed highway travel.
Just for getting around locally.
Anyway this might be a subject that Toms Hardware might be interested in so I am mentioning this.
Might be good for a forum section with articles too.
