Computer Freezes with file transfers

Hi guys,
Ive got an AMD 1.1ghz 512 ram, asusKT133 running windows XP with all the latest windows updates.
At the latest lan I was at, I had problems transfering files from any computer to mine. It would cause my computer to freeze (unresponsive) requiring a reboot.
This would happen if i was at my computer copying files from another. Or from another computer moving files onto mine. (only my computer would freeze)
Everything else worked fine, the internet, email, online games, lan games etc.
I tried new network drivers, different pci slots, different network cards, different cat5 cable, different jack in the hub. None of these things prevented my computer from freezing during tranfer of files.


ps before it would freeze the transfer sometimes worked, but usually only 2-3 small files would make it across the network.
