I think there may have been topics on this already, but I can't find them. (Link me over if you know of any)
I am wondering how to use both AA and HDR in oblivion with the 8800 card. As you all know, when changing settings in the game, it gives a message saying that HDR is not available with AA turned on.
I know the 8800 series is capable of this. I have heard some people say to use the nvidia control panel to force one of these on, and then turn the other option on in the game (or something like this). I have heard other people say this doesn't work.
Can anyone tell me if this will work and which option(s) should be turned on in the nvidia controls? (I don’t have the card yet, so I can’t see for my self).
Also, does the patch released by ATI (EDIT: the "chuck patch" maybe not released by ati) only work on their X1k cards, or will it work on the G80?
I don't have an 8800 series, but I assume like with ATI you force fsaa in the NV drivers and then enable HDR within the game. It works just fine for me with my X1950XT. As far as ATI, With ATI Cat 6.10 and newer you no longer need the chuck patch. And yes, it's only their X1xxx series that can do the type of HDR in Oblivion(FP16 HDR).
You don't need any sort of chuck patch for the 8800GTX. By simply enabling antialiasing in the Nvidia driver it forces it on Oblivion, and as RobsX2 has showed us, works perfectly fine.

Exactly, and like mplich said, it's a limitation from the game that won't let us set HDR and AA through the game options.
turning AA on in the Nvidia control panel does work with HDR. You do however also have to set the AA setting to "over ride application setting", otherwise Oblivion will turn it off.
