Video clip from Ozzfest. Pretty decent sounding stuff... Kind of a mix of the Black album and St. Anger, if I had to guess...

You mean you have not heard of their latest Big Smash Hit:
Don't Download Me! ?
Let's hope that their next album isn't a crushing disappointment like St. Anger was.
Let's be fair - a lot of people enjoyed St. Anger. I didn't.
Hmm, can't get to Youtube from work... I'm guessing this is Cyanide, Jef? Got this as an mp3, not bad.
For Mugz. I thought St. Anger ruled. I thought Load and Reload blew, big time. Then again, I like the Black album but not half as much as their other stuff.
St. Anger wasn't what I was expecting. I think that's where the problem came in...
Yeah, I think if people had followed them pretty closely all their career, St. Anger was a massive change in sound and direction. I copped an earful of Load/Reload and tuned out.... Really felt like a wussing out. So when I heard Frantic for the first time, it sounded like old school Metallica, fast and angry. As it had been a few years since I'd really listened to them, it was a pleasant surprise.
So I can imagine for those who hadn't sodded off for numerous years, like myself, it was probably horrible.
St. Anger comprised mainly of a monkey banging on a trash can.
Metallica should just stop. No...really, they should.
OK, please enlighten us as to what music you listen to, then maybe I'll take a giant sh!t all over them.

And if all you bastages purchased a legit copy I might get some royalties....
They all did.
One copy..............
@RobD - That's the one... Cyanide
@ AV - I did purchase a real copy.
Here was my reactions to the most recent albums...
Black album - Hated (still not a big fan of it) the first opening song... Uh.. Enter Sandman. The rest of it was pretty good, and as I listened to it more, I liked it more.
Load / ReLoad - Liked them at first, but then realized that there were only a couple of songs per album that were any good... So I don't pull them out too much...
St. Anger - At first I really liked it, as I do with all Metallica albums, but as I listened to it more, I liked it less... Then I realized that, compared to (Re)Load, it was FCUKING AWESOME!!! Seriously though, it was the first album with the new bassist, and it was a quantum leap in the right direction, away from (Re)Load... So I started to like it for it's promise... Back to the blackness, the anger, the speed of previous albums...
@AV. All the albums in my collection are legit. A couple of mates d/l stuff, sometimes I have a listen. If it's stuff I like I buy a copy. Metallica I buy by default. Back in the (pre-CD) day, I bought both a cassette and vinyl copy. Cassette for the Walkman, LP for the stereo in the bedroom.
Black album... So-so at first, got better but a few too many average tracks in between the stand-out numbers, more than normal. Plays occasionally, but usually only the big boys (Wherever, Unforgiven etc)
Load/Reload. Bought Load, listened once, couldn't get into it. Seemed to be trying to catch the vibe of the current music sound, too far from their origins. Never played again. Heard a few tracks off Reload, re-iterated my stance.
St. Anger. Had been several years since I'd heard 'em, and caught Frantic on the radio. Blew me away so I bought the album. It's about the best opening two tracks since Battery/Master Of Puppets. It has a couple of tracks that I skip occasionally, but it's a permanent feature in the CD multi-changer in the car. Such a hark back to their beginnings, you can feel the fury in the sound. That's why I think it works. Plus, watching the documentary Some Kind Of Monster helps. Quite eye-opening.
854.
I like it.
Don't be a jerk, by zpyrd is goood. Goes like this (jerk, jerk.... all... I want to do....... is jerk ya..................) Hats off too ya zpyrd. Wingding inspired *IT* to right the 10 letter song.
@ Rob and Jef.
St. Anger was a huge let down for me. I liked older Metallica but loved Suicidal Tenancies. He's an amazing bassist and I expected so much more from the combo. I just can get past Kirk. He sucks. He really does. He's copied more than one solo from Y&T. He is an absolute sh*t guatarist and would be called out more if wasn't drowned out by Lars amazing drums and having another guatarist in the band. If made to stand on his own, he'd be seen for the crap he is. Sorry, IMO.

And there was I thinking that poor old Metalica were all broke as everybody kept stealing their tracks, at least that is what they were saying along side the RIAAA. Any band that gets that involved with that bunch of c0ck suckers deserves to loose its fan base.
RIAA... kill kill kill!
So when should a band call it quits?
When they want to.
Depsite running the chance to bow out with a lacklustre album?
I'm not refering to Metallica though. Just a general question.
Some bands were brilliant for one album, and utter crap for the rest. Some bands are good on every album they bring out. Some have patchy results.
It depends on the band, I'd say.
There's no formula. Each album has to be rated on it's own.
Have there been some bands who have stayed out too long? Absolutely...
Rokken with Dokken![/clueless]
It depends on the dynamics of the band members. If they can't maintain a healthy relationship within the confines of the band the band will ultimately fail.
Here's the new single... Pretty damn decent... Starts slow, not my favorite lyrics, but the ending rocks ass!
Also good to see the old logo back again.
God that's fcuking brilliant. The mp3 i'd got was the live version, and sounded good then. but this..... fcuk.....
This is right back to their beginnings, the speed, the solos, the 2 minutes of riffing at the end..... when it hit that 4 minute mark and it all went up a notch, I was nursing a semi.
Oh yeah, they're back. I'm off to see 'em Sunday too, got a day ticket to the Reading festival. Metal up your ass!
Settle down Beavis......
These guys like, rock n'stuff. Yeah. Huh-huh....
You are going to see Metallica? You ROCK GOD BASTAGE!!!!!!!!
I want a full report Monday.
Or maybe Tuesday...
Man, just had another listen... DAMN THAT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not driving either, getting a lift down and staying overnight at a cheap hotel. So I'm going to get completely bollocksed and enjoy two hours+ of proper metal. Oh yeah!
I'll give you a complete report upon my return/sobering up.
You better!!!
And I want full description of the 19 year old gymnist tart who likes to take it up the backside like you always seem to run into!!!
He's married. Such exploits are a thing of the past.
Alas yes. I'm now just a bloke who ogles birds in tight jeans at such places.
I bet you do a fair amount of bap-spotting also.
That's what wraparound sunglasses are for. Proper perving over large-charlied sorts.
Nice. Hopefully you'll be able to disguise the massive erection in some way. A newspaper, perhaps.
RD, don't get TOO tossed. It is hard to head-bang when the room is spinning.
The guys in front of you would not appreciate the technicolor "tribute" you give to the band in the middle of a long set.....
OTOH, it might provide a useful "wearing surface" down at the mosh pit....
I also planned to wear a pair of combat trouser one size too big to allow a bit of room in the tenting department.
Edited for typo, good spot NH.

Sound's peachy.
Don't forget the warm apple pie.
Hegde my lad, you forget two things....
One, I'm British. Drinking is our national pastime. Two, I'm an ex-squaddie, which means I'm Olympic standard when it comes to quaffing.
End of problem!
Carry on good sir!
Man, was at the Cubs game yesterday... Talk about stare material! Holy crap!!!!
P.S. Rob... Wikipedia has a pretty good article on the new album...
I'd link, but you are going to see them, so sod off and do it your self!
P.P.S. Did I mention that my wife occasionally opens her Tradesman's Entrance? (About the only thing I can brag about with you two)
Yes you did, you back door bastage you. My wife has taken the Mrs Ding stance on that subject. Not even a pair of both Manolo's and Louboutin's prised her cheeks open.
Still, I have had the pleasure with a few women before though.

Ummmmm....
Too easy.
Yes Jef, it is. Here, I'll Wingy it for you....
...*back door bastage*...
WOO HOO!!!!!!
