Windows 2000 hangs after peripherals turn off

I have a power options setting to turn off monitor and hard drive after idle
after one minute and I willl leave the computer running overnight.
I often find, in the AM, if I hit a key the monitor turns on, but the system
is hung. I have to reset.

Is this a known problem? No hints in the MS knowledge base. Is it possible
to submit a trouble report to MSFT for issues like this without paying
$$99.00 for the privilege?

Check Event Viewer for errors. System isn't really hung if the OS is telling
the monitor to come on.

In my opinion never ever allow hard drives to go to sleep. Windows
notoriously has issues spinning them back up and the juice you save isn't
worth the tradeoff in my opnion.

Either I want to be a better person than I am
