Hi Guys!

After having struggled with this problem for a while, i decided to join these forums to try and get some help. So here i go:

Being one of the people that got left on AGP-Island, i have been thinking about upgrading my machine. I mostly use my computer for everyday stuff, and i play a bit of World of Warcraft (Wich my old GeforceFX 5700 pulls of just fine). But sometimes even WoW can be choppy, and things like Oblivion even on the lowest settings are not even possible.

Having never used anything else then Nvidia cards, i turned to them for a solution at first. The Geforce 7800GS popped up. It comes in various flavours, running at standard speed, and some cards overclocked. It seems like i can get a pretty good bang for my buck there.

Reading around these forums, i find that there is a card called Radeon "x1950". From what i can read, this card is better. Is this true? If so, how does it compare to the 7800 GS? I checked a few online stores here in Denmark, and oddly the X1950 is priced MUCH lower then the Geforce 7900 GS.

Geforce 7800 GS

X1950

The site is in danish, naturally, but you should be able to check if i'm looking at the correct models, and the prices :)

And before you go overboard about cheap Socket 478 PCI-E Motherboard upgrades, i can tell you that i decided to wait with the full system overhaul a bit longer. I am going for the AGP upgrade.

I'm running an ASUS P4P800-E Motherboard with a P4 3 GHZ HT CPU, and 2x 512 MB RAM.

Thanks in advance

You mentioned both the 7800GS and the 7900GS and linked the 7800. Either one is inferior to the X1950 Pro. Get the Pro, solid performance and it Crossfire's very well.

i agree 100%
x1950 is definitely the one you want

The x1950pro is the better deal. But tell me how you can crossfire 2 AGP cards? I think you made a typo djplanet :D

My bad. Though the Pro is in both flavors, he's clearly getting an AGP. Bear with me, I'm in a PCIe frame of mind. I just remembered that's a selling point for the PCIe version, so I blurted it out. He he.

Mentioning the 7900 was a typo, as i did not know that it comes in AGP :)

But if the radeon card outperforms them both, then that's the one im getting. Thanks guys!

What kind of PSU will i need for this card? I read in a review it has 2 molex connectors? That must use alot of juice?
