Fast question, i just threw a dual core system together with a 512 mb x1950 pro. Should i try and sell the pro and get a 8800 gts? Or should i just wait a few months and upgrade once all the dx10 cards are out? Oh by the way i dont have the money for it really, id have to go back to 1g of ram instead of the 2 gigs i just bought as well.

By the way ill never be gaming above 1280x1024....dunno if that matters.

Thanks

Is the X1950Pro not good enough for you?

If not, then go for the 8800GTS, but I think the X1950Pro will serve you well for a few more months.

To be honest i dont know, i havent put the system together yet, im still waiting on my memory to get here. But i think from what ive read, and from what im upgrading from, that using the x1950 now and then upgrading to a DX10 card in a few months when the new stuff is out, and spending less when i upgrade is the way to go.

since you haven't even put it together yet i would wait. i'm sure you will be happy with it. you can save the money(you dont really have) and when your system runs games slow or that must have dx10 game comes out then upgrade. by then the prices will have come down and more midrange and high end cards ( ati )will be out.

This part I agree wholehardedly with. I don't think there's much point in getting a DX10 card until Vista is out. Sure, you'll get higher frame rates, but a few problems have been showing up with the 8800. They will probably get solved once Vista is officially out and Nvidia releases the proper drivers. For myself, I'm waiting until the R600 comes out so I can have some benchmarks to compare. Keep your X1950, enjoy it and get your money's worth out of it.

The 8800 GTS will be old new very soon. If not because of the X2800XT, then because of the 8900 GTS, and if not because of that, then because of the X2900XT wich should arrive no earlier than July.

Stop pulling $hit out of your ass, and spewing it all over the forumz please. Unless you can provide some links to prove all your bogus speculation.
