No webcam requires Usb2. It would work fine with usb 1,1. And only
Creative has a TRue USB 2.0 Camer being realy 480mbs speed.

What camera did you buy ??

Haven't got the camera yet but after placing my order I read in one of the
reviews it says "BUY THIS CAMERA IF YOU DONT HAVE USB2".

The camera I'm waiting for is a Logitech QuickCam Messenger 640x480pix
Built-in Mic USB Win 98 2000 XP - OEM from ebuyer.com.

Do I not need USB2 for this camera then?

Sorry I cut & pasted it wrong it should have been "DONT'T BUY THIS CAMERA IF
YOU DONT HAVE USB2"

Check it out at www.ebuyer.com and type in the search Logitech QuickCam
Messenger and see the reviews for this camera.

Hmm...can't see it needing USB2 when Logitech themselves say it's system
requirements are only a 400Mhz processor. See this page from Logitech:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,crid=2204,contentid=5041,detail=2
I assume that is the camera you are buying?
It MAY need the extra speed of USB2 if you wanted streaming video
@640x320. What is their refund policy like if it doesn't do what you
want it to? Any chance you can get to a computer shop and see one in
action, or at least talk to the staff about it?

I think 12mbs will work just fine with Yahoo messenger. ;-)
