1) agp
2) 4x agp even
3) 3.06ghz p4 northwood
4) 350watt psu (no problems though AT ALL)
5) 1ghz 1066mhz rdram
Nothing is overclocked at all.
Now thats the problem, shitty 3dmark.
Now the thing is I am blazing through all my games at max
resolution, I have a 20.1 LCd 1440x1050 max resolution,
so is et that as my resolution everywhere to avoid scetching and skrewing.
I am pumping all my games to 6x aa and 16x af, in 1440x1050,
and this thing is not studdering and looks amazing, and thats something
I could never do.
I wouldn't worry about 3dmarks as long as it's gaming well. That said, your scores do seem low. Are you forcing HQ driver settings? Just make sure on your 3dmark runs to reset driver to default or set them for max performance as you did with the other card.
6K is good. I never hit 6K with my 6800U. I could have with a cpu OC. I think 5976 was my highest with the 6800U OC'ed and A64 4000+ at stock speeds. In comparison, the X1800XT scored about 8800 at stock speeds and the same cpu.

For one thing 800 points in 3dm05 isn't anything to really sneeze at. 800pt in 3dm05 means more than 800points in 03 or 01 for example.
And another, "all your games" is kinda vague, but I'm willing to bet they don't push your card the way 3dm05 does. Meaning that several extra frames is just that much more noticeable now.
Also, Your new card supports newer features that, while it may not make it faster in horsepower, it would be able to "handle" them better and not suffer a hit.
It's sortof like dual core reacts in some games, it doesn't so much increase performance in the way you might associate an increase in performance (like framerate), it smoothes it out, creating less stutter, thus giving the illusion of a faster framerate.
Uninstall the catalyst driver, reboot, clean registry, reinstall driver, reboot.
Did you run an optomized driver that disabled, or did you otherwize disable that ATI2EVXXX.exe?
I did that when I got my x1950xtx months ago and installed the omega drivers not realising what I did, was wondering why I was getting poor scores until I realised what I did, I just didn't pay attention to the drivers.
Overclocking drivers will usually disable it. If you didn't know, it's the file that you need to run in the background that tells the card you are running a 3d app and will then tell the card to run in the faster clocked 3d mode as opposed to a slower and cooler/less power consuming 2d mode.
I am scared cause when i tell my wife the TV on computer is over she gonna be pissed lol. And i dont dare install more shit on a 350 watt psu. mind you rumor is the psu is down graded alot, so its why i chanced it on the card.
I clean my system alot, im talking full blow dusting and air blasting, even removed the heatsinka dn cpu a few weeks ago. Not that it does anything, but a healthy system is a healthy system.
I only use 1 of my opticals my dvd-r dual layer player/burner, so i disabled my seconda optical cd-r during installation.
So for confirmation, I have 1 hd, 1 optical, 1 network card, a floppy that dont matter, a 3.06ghz p4 northwood /w ht, a 1 pair of 512 for a total of 1 ghz pc1066mhz rdram, with the 1950 agp.
This is all on a very haxed up dell 8200. Dell never made a 8200 with 3.06, i installed myself and hax the bios to allow for cpu 3.06 /w ht, and pc 1066mhz ram. If looked inside looked like a 1965 bug, all electrical tape and spaghetti diagram. lol.
Anywyas, the dell 8200 came with a underated *250W* powersupply./ It peaks at 350. All other companies rate the psu at peak watts. Thus being dells can be considered a 350.
Thus being my 250 is a 250. period. and powers a very high wattage 3.06ghz p4 with a 1950, fine. I am skeptical about even trying to hook up a second optical and disk drive. but the future looks boring. good luck.
