Hello all,

I'm building a new PC and after selecting every single piece I'm having a difficult time to choose a PSU for it.

I want something that can give me the option to overclock my CPU and a decent unit that wont fail. I'm planning to use it for 2 years.

The system is:

Core 2 Duo 6400
Gigabyte DS3
8800GS
2 x Western Digital 7.200 rpm
2gb ram DDR2 800 Corsair

I was looking for a 600w PSU, but wasnt sure if it would handle it for 2 years, so I found an Apevia 680W PSU for a lower cost than the OCZ GameXstream 600w I was considering. The Apevia one had good reviews on NewEgg. But I'm not sure.

I'm from Brazil, sou when you say something like, "oh, its just $30 dollars more", here it will be " (2.2 x $30) + A LOT of taxes

But basically, should I stay with OCZ GameXStream 600w or should I take the "risk" and go with Apevia 680w ?

Go to:

http://extreme.outervision.com (Power supply calculator)

and add one Hard Disk, one optical drive, video card and CPU, use high end motherboard,
calculate Watts and divide by 12 to get amps. Add 2-4 amps for safety.

Compare to your power supply 12v rails.
Combined should not exceed requirements.

Max power output on 12v rails: look at box, subtract 3.3v + 5v maximum output from total
wattage of PSU and divide by 12 to get maximum amps on 12v rail. Should be higher than
requirements. That's why we add 2-4 amps.
