I have a wireless network using a netgear router . A Dell 600m used to connect without a problem, but lately it has had some interruptions to the connection and today I have this problem.
The windows managed wireless shows a good connection (although the speed varies from 56Mbps to 2Mbps. Despite this, windows XP pro cannot connect in or out. Another computer with a dlink 54g adaptor has no problems. The dell connects normally to the router wired and internet access and file sharing are normal.
I figure its a hardware problem (Intel adaptor). Any clues?
Have you tried doing a cold boot of all your network equipmet. Starting with the modem, router, then PC's. Allow all to come up completely before moving to the next.
Also which flavor of netgear, some are having a problem with speed slowing with time, and need rebooting to correct. And are you using the latest version of firmware?
Also download and run netsumbler and see if you are have a conflict with other networks in your area. Remember 2.4 ghz cordless phones use the same bandwidth.
