In the article on this site: "The Best Gaming Graphics Cards for the Money: December 2006" , the pick for AGP cards at approximately $140 was the ATI X850 pro. It's only a couple weeks after that article posted, but I can hardly find any ATI X850 Pro AGPs listed on any of the shopping sites, and the few I can find are nearly double the price shown in the article. What gives? Is it a typo in the article, a price surge, or am I shopping at the wrong sites?

Thanks,
Bob

Yeah, somehow they ballooned in price. They are starting to decline in availability, probably because ATI isn't making them anymore. Try the 7600GT or the X1950 Pro (the latter is better).

Or it's a typo :? .

At the time of that article, they had plenty on newegg.com selling for $139. They've since sold out, and aren't even listed on the site anymore. It was mainly during this last summer when those, along with other X800-850 series cards were widely available. At one point you could get either an X850pro for $139, or an X800XL (refurbished) for $119 through ATI.com. You're best bet now is probably e-bay.
