I'm running my system on an Antec Truepower Trio 430w.

I have a 120 gig and 160 gig hard drive, one optical drive, 1gb of ram (in 2x512 sticks), an Athlon XP 2600+, and an ATI 9600 pro.

As you can see, its an old system, and I'm running Vista (from MSDN) and its really struggling, especially in games. Its also an AGP system.

Ive been looking to upgrade it, and am planning to get an extra gig of RAM. Im also wanting to upgrade my GPU. What do you think my system could handle? Would it be able to handle the likes of an 7800 GS or X1950pro?

Thanks!

x1950 doesn't come in AGP. I wouldn't waste money adding more RAM or a new video card. Instead you should spend it upgrading ur CPU, motherboard, and RAM.

An x1950pro AGP version has just recently been released. although for the most part its out of stock at the moment. Upgrading my motherboard and CPU? Do you really think that will benefit more than a new GPU? What would you suggest? Im kind of confused on your suggestion on RAM, you first say its not worth it than tell me to upgrade my ram.

save up your money and build a new rig. get a good processor that overclocks well, a good video card, 2 gigs of memory, and a really good motherboard. then, you'll be set to go.
