I recently OC'd my cpu to 2.5 from the stock 2.2 and while idle it ran from 39-41C. While loaded though it was pushing 50-51c range. I turned it back down to 2.2 and was wondering what a safe level of heat for such a cpu? Im using speedfan to monitor my temps inside my system. I have 2 120mm, one intake and exhast at full speed. Thanks ahead of time.

60 C and upwards is not recommended. If I remember correctly (correct me if needed) the critical temperature for 90nm stuff is about 69 degrees, that's when permanent damage occurs in the semiconductors.

Get a water cooling system or at least a better air cooler the better the cooling the safer it is to overclock.

I use Thermaltake 437 Bigwater system with external radiator and fan
