OK Im a real noob so be gentle lol. I have a 9mb download connection but can only get 4 maybe 5 through my linksys BEFW1154 v4. If i bypass the router i get every bit of the 9mb im paying for. Is there some way to fix this problem? router settings or different router all together? Thanks .

well, after a little playin with router settings I think the problem is solved. still interested to know if anyone else has slower connection through router though??

Never really heard of a router slowing down speed but I have heard of Modems doing it.

There are a few settings with in routers that can affect performace. MTU, filtering just to name a couple. In most cases the average users doesn't have a clue if its working right or not. If they are on DSL, the speeds may not be great enough to show the problem.

yeah thanks for everyones input guess i just got lucky, because my connection speeds are still good even through the router today .
