I have a C2D E6600 using an Arctic freezer 7 pro cpu cooler and artic silver 5 thermal paste. I'm using core temp to check CPU temp's. I was getting temps around 35-37 degrees celsius on both cores (under no load), which I think is about right. However, today I installed an 8800GTS graphics card and now core temp is giving me temps around 45 degrees (under no load) for both cores. Is 45 degrees too hot or about right?

I get close to your temps with the same e6600, cooler and a 8800 gtx.

The vid card runs a little hotter than the older cards, so adds a little to the ambient temps.

Stay under 65C and you are good. I am at 60c with a 3.2 OC on the 6600 at load, so you should be close.

Case and fan layout help a lot on this issue.

Alright, sounds good. I just didn't know if the video card should increase the temp that much. Thanks for the help.
