667 MHz ( PC2-5300 ) in a 533Mhz ( PC2-4200) motherboard Q

Hello,

Looking for some advice on upgrading my laptop memory from 2x512MB to 2x1GB config, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 9300 (Intel 915PM chipset).

The reason for my question is my current mem is 2x512MB 533Mhz DDR2 and I've found a really good price for 2x1Gb 677Mhz DDR mem and would like to upgrade. From my understanding the 677Mhz mem should work just fine but I would like to confirm if possible, ie if anyone has tried this before because I do know laptops can be picky about components sometimes.

It should work, but your only guarantee is if the vendor guarantees it will work on that notebook.
