Why is it sad? He didn't look overly fat. He found something he liked and he enjoyed it in a (seemingly) responsible manner.

What you say makes sense and is true, but I do not feel any awe for such action - it was afterall compulsive.

Had he done something more tangible than eating bigmacs I'd be enclined to go "wow".

As for the record - he did manage to pull it off without a hint of glutony. I bet he's pretty tired of bigmacs now.
