This is an extension of an earlier thread regarding changing the default
port for SMTP. My primary ISP utilizes port 587 so I was looking for a way
to change the outgoing port. There are two ways to do this: 1] change the
outgoing port to smtp.domain.com:587 or 2] install SMTPManager, which
essentially does the same thing, but is more flexible.

The challenge I've got now is that my primary ISP blocks port 587 my PPC's
network provider IP range, so I can't do outgoing for that domain with my
PPC. I do have a secondary ISP that works just fine for SMTP so what I'd
like to do is use it for outgoing for my primary account. The problem is
that I have different logins and passwords and the PPC does not seem to
allow different POP and SMTP credentials.

This is an example of what I'd like to do:

POP: mail.domain1.com --> username: name1, password: password1
SMTP: smtp.domain2.com --> username: name2, password: password2

I've got SMTP set to require authentication, but I'm not prompted for
credentials. Does anyone know a way to have a second set of credentials for
SMTP?

Thanks,
Dave

Unfortunately, not possible with the current crop of Pocket PCs.

Let me clarify - not with Inbox. Try nPOP at
http://www.nakka.com/soft/npop/index_eng.html

It may work for you.

Or with WebIS Mail 2.1.

Is there any chance that these configurations options will be added to the
mail client native to PPC-2003? I actually like this client better than
nPOP.

By the way while we are talking futures I also think it would be cool if the
external mail accounts would also sync with Active Sync.

Thanks for your input
Dave

I downloaded WebIS Mail and at first glance it looks very good. What I
didn't like about nPOP is that it didn't integrate with the contact list -
WebIS does - so that's a plus.

It's a little hard to work with compared to the native client, but it meets
all my criteria, so I think I'll use it until the native client offers the
same configurability.

Thanks,

It has been asked. :-)

They will. Just open the email account when docked and press the SYNC
icon for that account. It will use AS passthrough.

I think you probably want them all to automatically sync though. That
would be nice, but as you know, that isn't a feature.
