Do you want someone to actually build it for you, or just give you some suggestions? I think there is only a couple newer mobos that have an agp slot for your vga.
Buy a new GPU with your system - you're not saving any cash by keeping that AGP Radeon, because you'll be limited to what motherboard you can buy now, and then if you want to upgrade in the future it'll mean a whole new board, thus costing more.
I know he's at a movie right now...but i'll give you some more details how I think he'd answer...
Probably won't need a copy of XP.
Almost definitely won't be overclocking.
Could prob budget about 100$ (that 7600gt which is 85$ AR) for a mid range pci-e vid card since it saves money overall, and since the pc will be used for some gaming.
Well, if he is not overclocking then I suggest he get the cheaper DDR2 533 MHz RAM. He only needs RAM faster than that if he is planning on overclocking.
It's a sin not to OC Core2, though. E6300 ($186) or E6400 ($224) OC so very well.
And sometimes 800MHz RAM can be had for not much more than 533MHz RAM. If you can fit faster RAM in the budget, do it. The absolute dirt-cheapest 533MHz 2GB set on newegg right now is $180, it really isn't much more for 2GB of 800MHz RAM, I saw a set from G.Skill that was $225 after rebate.
The cheapest decent Core2 mobo I know is the Biostar TForce965PT ($105).
For hard drive, I'd grab a 320GB 7200.10 drive from Seagate - $95 on newegg right now.
Exactly what do ya need entirely? I see ya got that 9600se, but what else do you have to piece this thing together? If it's only core2, mobo and ram for a grand then hell that's easy.
$972.97 without S&H. I say this will do you good IF this is all ya need with some scrappin of other parts from another system to complete the build. Plus as you can see I added a gpu because ya gotta just let that 9600se go man!
yeah i prob could have been more detailed, well i guess im getting rid of thee ol 9600, but i had a an ancient dell 8250 so im not sure any parts would transfer, and ill spend 40 bucks for a dvd r, but i basically was looking for a motherboard compatible with ram, core 2 duo, and a powersupply.
