Hi, I am looking for a good tv tuner that would have good reception, I was considering on geting the ati tv wonder 650, is it good, what are the 2 coax conections for( i know one is for the coax cable in, what is the other one for?) does this card have a svideo out?(i looked at some pics, but i could not figure it out, the photos were ususally at an angle so i couldnt see it well)

I was planing on conecting a regular coax cable to wach tv, threw a cable box (so i could watch tv whan im not in the main room where the tv is located with the box), and also be able to send video to the tv(hance my previous question regarding the s-video input), since my dvd player just broke down not so long ago, and i thought that i could send it back threw the svideo to the tv( i found a s-video to coax signal converter at my local k-mart lol)

Is there maby a beter tv tuner card available presently for desktop pc's? with theose atributes?, tht are beter than the tv wonder 650, I'm open to suggestions.

Thank You for all replies.

First of all, thanks for that one thread about the Core 2 a few months ago. Without you, I would have gotten a Pentium D. I am also in the same boat and need a good tuner. Are you talking about this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6815116310

That doesn't have S-Video though.

Hi, Im glad I could help :), lol thats why I like Tom's forums, its nice possible to help others with things one knows, and also there is a chance of receiving help from those that do know a bit on certain topics :).

In regards to the tv tuner card i ment thise one:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspag [...] 9206843868

I read some reviews in which ppl said that the tv wonder 650 is much beter in video quality than the card mentioned in Your post, I bought a tv weonder 200 one but it stopped working after about 3 weeks, so i returned it( i was waiting for the 650 to get it anyways lol, lucky me ;))

but honestly i read many good things about the Hauppage 150 model (if im not mistaken) and it comes with a ir booster, and supposedly it has 2 tuners in one(im not shoor of that one thou)+ it comes with a media center remote, and also i think it does cost around $100 or so, wherac teh 650 is 130(not much of a difference since i did think i will spend around that amount anyways), on the other hand the 650 has beter video quality

unfortunetly i cant find a tuner that has a svideo, or composite video out, which I could also use to send video to the tv, so honestly im a bit confused which one to get, i like the ir booster for the hauppage rempote, since the cable box is located in the room where the main tv is, and my pc is in another room a bit further from the cable box, so i could not controll it from the other room(btw does qnyone know if the ati remote is still a radio frequency one or ir?)

Any thoughts on it?

Well, I have a x64 OS right now, and I don't really know if any of the tuners will work. I went to Hauppauge's site, and saw that for the 150 that they had x64 drivers. They didn't have x64 drivers for the other tuners. The remote is probably IR now. I am not sure. What graphics card do you have? There's no need for S Video out on the tuner card, if you have it on your graphics card. Your x850x should have S Video, so you can just get the signal from there. That way you can view your PC and watch videos and stuff on your TV.

BTW, S Video sucks for anything BUT videos on pretty much any TV besides a projection, plasma, or LCD. I tried it on an old TV, and you can't even see what the writing said on Yahoo.

Typically the S-Video out is a feature found on graphics cards. Many laptops have them, and many discrete graphics cards for desktops do as well. Usually they require a dongle of some type to split video input and video output, or to extract digital audio on a connector that looks like S-video, but has more pins / holes.

Back before I got a PS3, i had the Asus mobo with the onboard Nvidia video graphics. I paired it with the Nvidia DualTV and the bronze Pure Video decoder and it was the best ever.

But since you have a ATI card, I suggest sticking with an AVIVO card of some sorts.

Those look so nice! I really don't want to drop [/b]$200 on one of those. That's out of my budget by about $100! lol

I have the Fusion HDTV DVB-T Plus version myself.
It has been beautiful to watch. Clear HD picture, pretty good SD also.
