Palm OS to Pocket PC 2003, w/o Outlook

Forum Cell Phones & Smartphones : Windows Mobile Palm OS to Pocket PC 2003, w/o Outlook

Guys,

I've been using a Palm Vx for quite some time, and it's time to move up to a
color screen
and better unit. I just got an HP iPAQ hx2410 unit. I use my PDA on my
business laptop,
which is locked into Lotus Notes for email.

The HP manual says that in order to transfer data from the Palm OS to Pocket
PC I need
to export the data to Outlook (by setting Outlook as my default email
client) then export the
data to Pocket PC.

Since I can't change the choice of LN or Outlook, the above is not an
option. HP suggested
I try an IR transfer, but that doesn't work as the Palm OS databases are
locked, obviating the
ability to do an IR transfer.

One option is to install my Palm OS on my desktop machine, export it to
Outlook (not my
default email client, OE is), uninstall Palm OS, install ActiveSync and
export from Outlook
to Pocket PC.

Are there any other ways around this dilemma?

TIA,

Jeff

You can beam records, but not entire databases.

See if you can find a third party app, like Intellisync, that can work
with Palm, Pocket PC and Lotus Notes and use Lotus as your primary
database.

The only alternative would be to sit and rekey the entries.
That OE is your default mail client shouldn't matter, it is on my
machine too. I use both Outlook and Outlook Express.
