No longer able to run .exe applications

Before an Adware attack I could run dos programs just fine. Now I cannot.
The NTVDM file is ok. The UsrClass.dat file was changed on the day of the
attack. The Config.NT and Autoexec.NT files are ok. Any suggestions on wher
to look? Thanks.
