Mind giving us all of your specs? im guessing that its the psu, might be dead, or not supplying nearly enough power for the system.

my full specs are
Intel core 2 duo e6600
asus p5b-e
corsair xms2 2gb ddr2 800 TWIN2X2048-6400
dvd burner
floppy
ultra 600w
bfg 7600gt

how could the power supply be dead if it is powering the mobo light?? i'm thinking the mobo might be doa

UPDATE:
When i take it out of the case and run it, it powers up. Could it be that the case is grounding it??

might not be much help but...

did you put the little bolts in the case.. so the motherboard doesn't touch the metal of the case? i, by accident, forgot to do that once.. and had similar problems..

cichy69 is right make sure you use spacers so that mobo is not shorting with the case

Buy a PSU tester and test your PSU. I see this problem everytime with C2D builds. Something tells me it's the CPU the does something to the PSU. :D

then it is most probable that the problem was caused by shorting mobo

I got the thermaltake mambo case... it has raised mobo holes.... in the package it only came with 3 risers so i assumed that the raised holes are there for the mobo.
