So I hear that this E6420 is being released sometime in January. It being the same as a regular E6400 but with a 4MB cache and at the same price sounds sweet. I wonder if anyone here has any info about it. I don't wanna build my new rig if a week later a better processor at the same price is released =P

Oh thanks for the heads up. But what's the use VT or Non-VT many of us Will never be using that feature anyways. All we ask for is Conroe Like Over clock ability and RAW Performance.

Just for personal assurance the E4XXX Series are the "Allendales" right? and anything E6xxx are native Conroe cores?

Yeah, only the 4xxx series are Allendales.

Does anyone know where can I find VT benchmarks? Parallels Workstation support VT now, not sure about VMWare. It's disappointing that we still have no articles on VT performance from the major hardware review sites.

E6420 ftw!

I really think this will be one of the most sought-after chips in CPU history...

Well both E6X20 chips are priced so close i guess the E6420 will outsell if they aren't immediately making the E6420 at least 50$ more expensive. But the E6x50 are also very appealing, but since the lowest end has the same L2 Cache and is overclockable as the current Conroes so you may easily manage to get it to E6700 Speeds and Beyond at half the price or less.
"The power of an Extreme Conroe* at half the price"

*(Over clocked) should we rename over clocking? it's easier to over clock Conroes than anything in history.
