I've got Verizon DSL (east coast version with PPPoET on a dumb Westell Wirespeed dsl modem).

I have three wired computers currently attached to a Linksys Switch and a Linksys WAP54G to serve my laptops and my computer in the basement.

I currently use Sygate Home Networking with Sygate Firewall Pro, however, the Verizon DSL doesn't play well with the Sygate software router in Home Networking. Verizon is telling me I have to use a hardware router.

Instead of paying for extra firewall installs on each machine once I install a hardware router, I'd like to get a hardware firewall/router combo instead.

I run Windows 2000 Workstation (i.e., Pro) on each machine.

What's your experience? What's your recommendations?

I have a Linksys BEFSR41 4 port Broadband Router with hardware fire wall at home, works great. Have an 8-port version at work, no complaints either. You can get one for about $60 at NewEgg.com

I also have good experience with Linksys Router. I have been using one for a few months and never have any problem with it.
