The other night there was a documentary about this covering:

- sighting of UFOs
- sighting of aliens
- abductions
- regressional hypnotism
- Roswell

and more.

Was interesting and towards the end they described a seti project funded in great part by microsofts' cofounder and the project director said this:

"If extraterrestrial beings had visited or are visiting the earth, there would be some detectable radio signal of their presence!"

He went on to say that our presence on earth can now be detected to
aliens since for the past 50 years we have been sending out into space radio signals..tv , radio etc.

There is a serious flaw in this reasonning.

in what way is there serious flaws in that reasoning.

who are you to say that there are no aliens withing 50 light years of here.

I never said there are no aliens over 50 light years away! and that's part of the flaw of that scinetists reasonning:

The SETI projects are looking for radio signals since let's say 10 or 20 years now. Let's hypothesise that but the numbers aren't so important anyway.

Since life on earth has been evolving well over 1 000 000 000 years now and earth is by no means a young planet as solar systems go in the universe, you can then assume that life may have evolved many many years earlier elsewhere than here on earth.

It's all a question of simple math so let's say an intelligent life form evolved on a planet 1000 light years away 100 000 years ago, and it emitted radio signals out into space for 1000 years.

Let's say that after 1000 years it evolved it's technology to be no longer radio wave dependant (easily conceivable) than this would add up to 1000 years for the last transmission + 1000 years for the time of the last transmission to reach earth equals 2000 years .

Take that 2000 years off the existence of that alien civilisation and you are left with a 98 000 year periode where this intelligent extraterrestrial life form could have, and still be, visiting earth with NO radio waves to be detected from it's existence or it's presence.

That is the major flaw in the SETI projects.

That's true so more serious funding should be put into the investigations of these allegations of sightings and abductions.

More transparency should be demanded of the US goverment in these matters.

Full disclosure should be made about what occured at Rosswell and there are many other such cases of coverups.

What does the US goverment fear if they reveal the existence of true cases of contact?

hmm, religion would be finally put to grave and most of the pettiness and egotistic nature of human society would be shown as just that.

Do you really think religion would be put to grave, or perhaps it would just be transformed. Aliens, however advanced they may be, are certainly not Almighty as God is imagined to be and they no doubt have their limitations even if those limitations are beyond our understanding.

There are a lot of possibilities here as to the form this contact may have or is taking.

Remember the story line of Babylone5 ? The spirits of the deceased from an advanced alien race were reincarnating into humans. What if that is what occured with Christ, Buddha and others? What if that is what is occuring today with the so called Indigo children? What if they are appearing in a seperate universe that some of us are accessing?

Reply to pike

what i mean is that we are meant to be the centre of the universe, created in god image, the master of this earth. complete nonsense but if it was found that there was a race that did not look like us and did not believe in any god or something different it would, i believe be the final nail in the coffin or at the very least allow the silent majority who do not believe in god to be confident in speaking out without fear of intimidation.

That would be more true about christianity or more precisely traditional christianity. Buddhism, Taoism and to some extent Hinduism would pretty much remain untouched. And the more you go deeper with the more esoteric teachings of most paths, the body identification becomes less true and some have even said our true identity is more alien like than human like....contrasting the spirit with the body of course.

Reply to pike

i meant religions that were used for personal gains more than anything.

though you are right and i was meaning monodeity based religions or at least the main ones.

The possibility of aliens is easy to believe.

A cycle of visitations lasting thousands of years is harder to believe...there must be much more interesting places to go.

I posit that Wingy is an alien.

If the perfect machine has no moving parts then I imagine the perfect civilisation has no moving parts either ... a virtual world where the mind is free to roam and there are no physical limitations (or obsessions with the physical).

Imagine what Wingy would do for fun ??

I can't ...

Therefore ... Wingy must be an alien ... a deviate one who has been "caste off" to live in isolation from his little green friends.

The incongruity of the aformentioned statements seems to sit quite well ...

Furthermore ... they must think very little of us.

Apologies If there is a rule that states "Thous shall not discuss the origins of the Wingy".

Remember the Vietnam movies where they light the tree line up? Imagine a gathering of hippies with a good dose of napalm.... Irony: burning dirty hippies will most surely stretch the hole in the ozone by quite a margin.

Do hippies contain a lot of ozone?
