I have this problem in two locations (at home and at work). They both involve a Linksys WAP54G access point. Networks are comprised of a router (Linksys, 2 different models), Ethernet based LAN and the WAP. The WAP54G is the only common element between the two networks.
Here is the problem: When the router and WAP are first powered up, everything is OK. However, after several days to weeks goes by, the computers on the WAP no longer have connectivity to computers on the hardwired LAN. The ones on the wap have full connectivity to the gateway, and can get on the web. They can ping the router, they cannot ping any computers on the wired LAN, and hence cannot access files or printers. Resetting the WAP does nothing, but resetting the router and then the WAP restores the connectivity.
Linksys so far has been no help. They blame the routers and it just seems odd that the common point is the WAP (and my configuration of them).
Looking for some help in what I am missing in all this.
Try turning off logging. I had an old smc that would do strange things when the buffer aloted for logging filled up. Have seen this on linksys and a few odd ball routers too.
You may be having problem with the Router, it is controlling the network. I have one that needs to be rebooted on a regular basis. I think it's a buffer over run in the firmware. May want to take a closer look at it.
