for win2k, all service packs, etc installed
have soundMax audio software and all audio runs right off intel
motherboard, on board jacks,
installed a matrox agp video adapter to run 2 monitors and somewhere during
install, audio now comes out speakers on one of the monitors instead of
desktop speakers
plugged right into mother board
checked in hardware devices, soundMax still there, working ok, etc
is it a win2k issue to get sound going to desktop again??
matrox of course couldn't offer any help, there was nothing in the install
dealing
with audio, why should there be, its video!

it appears it was not a windows op sys issue, i found a newer version of the
audio drivers for the mother board
installed those and sound returned to the desktop, before that i had
reinstalled the existing drivers for the audio but
that did not solve the problem
