Ok well you know what I have in my sig. The question is this guy says that by me having 4x512 is alot slower than his 2x1024. Is this true? If so by how much? Because as of right now I only have 2x512 I was just going to get 2 more but if I'm losing alot of performance I guess I'll lose my money with these 2x512 and got 2x1024. What if I had 2x512 and 2x1024 would they still run dual channel?

Slower? On an AMD platform yes, on Intel I don't think it really matters as the memory controller is on the motherboard.

On an AMD system it will be run dual channel, but be slower. Seems most AMD boards or IMC like to run with the command rate at 2T when using more than 2 sticks of ram.

Since you have an Intel cpu, I don't think it will be much of an issue as Heyyou stated.

Also in my bios when I ocd my e6300 I had to bump down to 533 but really i think i just moved it to a 1:1 even though it said 533 could you guys confirm this here is what cpu-z says about my memory and not the spd tab either. All i wanna know if this is running at what ddr2 800 should be running at or if this is still pretty good for having ocd to 2.4

I wouldn't call it good. Your running the 800MHz ram at 687MHz. You have a long way to go before putting that 800MHz stuff to good use. (this is why I've been telling people to stop buying DDR2-800 ram for intel systems, DDR2-677 would have been just fine.)

I would say however that the overclock overall is a nice one.

you have no clue what you are saying.slower on an amd platform as opposed to an intel.lmfao.you need to re-read your specs on the amd processor with the integrated memory controller.That is what makes it faster than an intel.No northbridge controller to go through for memory access,thereby eliminating the delay in accessing memory.Thereby giving you lower latancy times.Goodluck.

The only two specifications that matter in real world performance are capacity (of which you both have the same) and frequency, which is basically saying that it's a CPU comparison anyway.

Actually, timings can have a similar effect as frequency. If you loosen your timings like crazy to get that extreme RAM OC, you may have the same performance as at a lower clock but tighter timings.

EDIT: Although in either case, the integrated mem controller (listen to how good that sounds Intel) on an AMD chip negates any huge performance difference when OCed/tighened timings over stock in anything other than memory intensive apps. Capacity on the other hand, makes all the difference.

Sorry dude,but you are not the person I replied to.You should not notice any performance decrease except when it comes to dual or single channel mode.And even that is negelagable at best.So go buy your 2 new sticks and don't worry bout it.Goodluck.
