Some friends of mine are trying to produce a bike powered sound system (as opposed to the one we just tow round at present with a big battery). They would like to power the system from a bike. I've just had a request on our mailing list for a whole string of equipment and it seems to me their must be an easy way to do this. How much juice would you need to power a small PA? Do you think you could get away with combining 6v 3w dynamo units and actually get enough to drive a small 12v car amp?The unit would be used by a performance group so it does need to be fairly loud although not megadeth concert volumes.
Also I'd be interested if anybody knows of any good high efficiency low cost digital amp units.
Who are they going to get to power this thing? Or are you gainfully employed again?

Hey! I like disturbing the neighbours with Dimmu Borgir!
Sorry, that doesn't ring a bell for me. I take music in very very small portions. I find most of it is just noise to fill up some emptiness inside and i don't want to do that anymore. Let the emptiness just be.
Many rock classics from the seventies do come and get me however.
I prefer "Bring it on Home" or "How Many More Times". And "Ramble On".

They're currently looking to use a turbo trainer and an old alternator. Having had a think about it last night this is probably the best bet as they are going to need the current to drive the amp. It's got to have some guts behind it as it will be used for outdoor performances. The girl behind it all also does some enviro education bollocks so she would also be able to set it up in classrooms and let kids ride it to get a standard lightbulb working, she can then stick in an energy efficient one and show them how much less they have to peddle so they will likely be sticking an inverter into the mix too.
You said nothing of the acoustic sound. I stand by my selections.
Zep songs played on an acoustic guitar, you may have a winner...

I've mentioned it before, that song done acoustically is brilliant and a lot easier to play than it sounds, never fails to impress too. [sig] Man City 2Liverpool3 [/sig]

There's a lot that I really want to do that I don't make time for, and one of those would be to pick my guitar up again. I was never very good, but I enjoyed it.
Here's a real simple song for you Tom, one that I could even play the first part of and sing (very badly on both accounts). It's a Pumpkin's song that really moves me. Not their (or my) typical sound (I turned off Rage to listen to the song), but for some reason, it really strikes a chord in me (pun intended).
Jupiter's Lament
Gone, long gone
Blink and I'll be gone, gone, gone
Leave this world of wrong, wrong, wrong
Leave it far behind
And although my secret's gone
I'll try to carry on
If I must, I'll get along
Without you
Gone, long gone
Leave this world of wrong, wrong, wrong
Beyond the pale, beyond the dawn
Flee these mortal bonds
No one knows I can't be wrong
So I'll sing the same old song
I tried to be strong
For you
Why have you left me
Amongst the tall trees
I know I gave her all I have
And I tied her heart in ribbons
Tied her heart in ribbons
Tied her heart in ribbons
And bows
And I'm gone
Oh yes, I'm gone
And I'm lost without you
I'm lost within you
And I'm gone
So gone
Long gone

Sounds like it's all G C and a spot of D. Surprising just how many tunes are!
Have a listen to this guy, this guy really knows how to play an acoustic guitar.
A big part of what I like about that song I posted is it's simplicity. Billy is usually included on the "Greatest Guitarists" lists and such, but for all the ripping shreading tunes they do, he's got a lot that are quiet and simple... Such a start contrast, and it's amazing...

I'm awarding you 10 stupid points for everyday you fail to pick up your guitar for at least ten mins per day. Sort it out or in eight billion years you'll be considered just as stupid as Pike. That's a fact!

Actually spoke with the dubious one on IM the other day for the first time in a few months. It sounds like she's doing OK. Finally got some therapy going and Richard has moved in now although strangely he's strugling to find work in that crud hole.
I spoke to her a while back too, she does seem to be getting a little better. I wonder if Riser's MIA status has anything to do with her recovery?

I got an e-mail from here (I know AV was on there) and so I wrote back and said hi, got the same story.
I hope things go well for her. She liked Riser, I think she's suffered enough...

As much as I'll rip the crap out of that guy I'll actually cut Rise some slack on that one. I genuinely think he wanted to help, certainly those two talked about some very personal stuff together and whilst it got messy I certainly don't think that was by design on either part.
I don't believe we are looking at an input problem. Evidence points to a process malfunction. The feeble minded cnut bucket isn't capable of comprehension and simply outputs random bollocks. [sig] Man City 2Liverpool3 [/sig]

Sometimes as they say.. sh!t happens.
I wasn't implying that Rise did anything wrong. I was simply saying that if she was attracted to him (which she was), that was enough suffering. Not because he was or wasn't trying to help, but rather, because he's Riser.
