Can anyone recommend a similarly priced/performing mobo? I will be getting an e6400 c2d and plan to OC. I was looking at Super Talent, Corsair, or OCZ DDR2- 800 RAM.

hi, im in the same boat as you hounddog,

turtle are those reliable sellers? (say if i get a dead board how good is there return policy/customer service)

thanks

Well, since I am buying just about everything else from Newegg, I would like to buy the MB there as well. I have found that they have a G-ds3 and so far the only difference I can see is that it includes on board video. Does anyone have anything to say about the G-ds3 versus the P-ds3?

It seems like I just keep going in circles. I also like Asus, but then I see this business about Rev1 vs. Rev2.

Any other suggestions?

Buy from a local Mom/Pop shop (more or less). Tell them you want to buy the board at 10% more then new egg (after shipping). Most shops will agree to this... and being a popular Mobo, most shops should carry it.

If they say no, the price is too low, tell them
"damn, I feel bad for you guys. You should be buying from New Egg then!"

Anyway, Smaller shops WILL haggle.

Ordered a few times from Directron. Had ordered a Ruby Orb from them but then found out about thermalright and sent the orb back to them and got my money back. Havent had to deal with DOA items yet but their customer service department has a pulse. Don't know anything about ewiz, only found out about them through pricewatch.com

Some seem to forget that the 965P S3 exists. It's the same motherboard, without the solid state capacitors. Overclocks just as well and I've had no problems with it to date.

My best O\C using the S3

Dude... the S3 is SH*T

After 5 years, there is a 10% chance the caps will go bad from leakage.

(Caps are estimated to last 5 years, and 10 years for solid state)

--> To note, all my remaining 486's are still running Dos, doing DOSly things... and spread sheets. So they must be using superior capacitor technology.

The only difference is not the capacitors if I understand it correctly. The S3 also does not include RAID.

Try the 650i, it's supposed to be a great OCer, on par with the 680i... has SLI capability, and reasonably priced..

sorry! Just assume there will always be a little sarcasm in my posts. I hate to waste my time replying if it isn't at least a bit funny, or at the very least, not boring.

I have bought stuff before from Directron and have never had a problem. Sign up for their weekly newsletter. It always offers several discount coupons tied to how much you spend. I bought my E6600 from them and got both free shipping and $10 knocked off the price. Since I live in CA, and NewEgg charges me sales tax, I sometimes buy out of state.

One more alternative is Frys. Their B&M stores want $149 for this board and you can easily return it if you have a problem. No Frys? Try their online site. Most of their stuff is not competitive but when they do run something on deal no one else comes even close. And their shipping is FAST. 30 hours from OH to CA and that was with free shipping. They use DHL and Directron used FedEx on my last shipment. A lot of people have been complaining about UPS lately.

Get it from zipzoomfly.com. I was in the same boat as you this past weekend. I bought all my parts from newegg except the cpu and mobo, from zipzoomfly. They are great, and their shipping is often free. i payed 4 bucks for 2 day shipping. definitely worth it. highly recommended.

I have the G, and let me tell you it sucks. Once you go past 319 FSB the intel SATA ports don't work (hear awesome clicking, and no it's not my drives). It took a whole lot of tweaking just to get it to 334 FSB, and I can only use the 2 gigabyte SATA ports. Past that it POSTs and goes into BIOS, but it stops recognizing both SATA and IDE devices. POS, I plan to get rid of it for a real board, just not sure what I want to go with/how much I want to spend.

You can try going to us.NCIX.com. They are a canadian company but I think they ship to the US as well.

I was in the same boat as you, every UK retailer I could think of was sold out of them.

I did find a site, but sadly they don't ship to the US so its not much help for you.

Something must be going on with the DS3.

They are exploding randomly setting fire to the carpet, or desk they are near. There has been 8 reported deaths directly caused by this motherboard, 22 injuries, and more then 1000 pet deaths. This board is VERY dangerous and thus, everybody wants one.... thats why its out of stock.
