DDR400 Voltage Question: Is This Dangerous?

I'm using 2GB of OCZ Premier DDR 400 ram (4x512mb) and they're rated for 2.6 volts stock but I have them running at 2.9 volts while I test the stability of my CPU o/c (1.8 ghz athlon 64 @ 2.4 ghz 42 celsius prime 95 full load)

My mobo (Asus A8N-SLI) allows me to go up to 3.0 volts with them and the sticks have copper looking heatspreaders that OCZ ships them with.

my question is: do i risk frying my sticks at 2.9v, and do i risk frying my CPU at 1.55v?

I'd go with the CPU - you can monitor the temps of the CPU but you can't with the RAM.

If you don't see an enourmous heat increase on the CPU, then roll with that and forget about your RAM voltage.

yeah, temp is not an issue with my CPU, mobo, and i suspec it's not an issue with my ram either. never seen my cpu go beyond 45 celsius under load and mobo sensor reads 29.

i'm only concerned about them because i vaguely recall something about "electromagnetic tunneling" that may happen when voltages are set too high.

Electron Migration I think is what he is talking about. That only happens when your DIMMs are set very high on voltage (like +1v over default).

Also I hope you aren't using Asus Probe to check your CPU temperature. From what I heard they are totally wrong most of the time.

and i'm using everest ultimate and sandra to watch my temps. now if i only had an opteron 165 8O
