Upgrade Question

Right now I have 1GB (2 512MB) of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 RAM. I see 3 possibilities for an upgrade, but I don't know which one would give me better performance...

1) Buy 2 more 512MB sticks and add them to what I already have

2) Buy 2GB (2 1GB) and add them to what I have

3) Buy 2GB and only use them

I'm using a Gigabyte DS3 if that matters.

if you're a gamer, i really don't see the use for more than 2GB of memory? getting 2x512 of the same brand as the other 2x512 you have makes the most sense for me. you can use the money you saved for a better CPU, PSU, HSF or whatever. or get a hat.
