Quick Question on whether or not i can reuse OS

I baught my dell dimension 2400 back in 2002. Right now i am planning to build a new computer and was wondering if i could reuse the XP Home disc the dell came with...

As long as its an actual install disc, not just a recovery disc, you can.

Errrrr.....yes and no.

If you try to validate after install it probably wont work. If you call M$ and tell them you replaced the mobo they may give you a new key or they may not.

I just looked and on the front of the cd it says: For reinstallation only.

Well, you can get XP SP2 with a coupon for Vista, $90 at newegg.

Usually not, the install discs look for specific motherboards (at least HP's do).

Also its illegal... but that a technicality I guess.
