My understanding is that IIS 6.0 can only runs on Windows Server 2003, not
any other operating systems. Correct?

My boss asked me to upgrade IIS 5.0 to IIS 6.0 in Windows 2000 Pro machine.
I need to find references in Microsoft web site to prove it to my boss.

In http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/iis/evaluation/default.mspx
and
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/whyupgrade/top10w2k.ms
px, I couldn't see it explictly mention IIS 6 only runs on Win 2003. In the
meantime, I couldn't find the information on IIS 5.0 to IIS 6.0 upgrade in
Win 2000 machine.

Any references? Please advise. thanks!!

If your boss asked you to drink the Atlantic Ocean would you try? Joe IIS 5
can not be installed in Windows NT4. Nor can IIS 6 be installed in Windows
2000. They all use completely different methods. IIS 4 has COM and
Transaction Server. IIS 5 has COM+ and IIS 6 has neither as their basic
functionality
