Best webcam streaming software

Hi,

My friends are moving to the other side of the world soon, and would like to
have webcam chats from time to time.

I have a sony camcorder connected to the PC by firewire. This gives me very
good picture quality, but most chat programs like yahoo, MSN etc transmit
the video in very bad quality.

So is there any software that me and my friends could use to connect
directly to each other, which would provide good quality video streaming and
audio. (we both have broadband)
