I just tried to copy an .mpg movie clip from cd to desktop. I can
play it on one of my computers from the cd. But it plays better
from the hard drive I think. So I tried to copy it from cd to desktop.
It is about 795 MB. The computer has 512MB Ram. It starts
copying but after a few minutes, I get the message that the
"Parameter is incorrect". I just did a drag and drop. Is there some
other way I can copy this from cd to desktop. This is a very cleanly
installed OS (just yesterday).

Keep it on the CD. Why use up all that room on your harddrive? There will
be no significant difference when using the CD or the HD. Sometimes when
transferring/copying from media to media you could lose some. You can even
email it to a friend by using the below service which allows up to one gig:
