I have my own DLL developed in VB6 SP6 on NT4 SP4 and it consistently
fails to install on other machines, except one which also happens to
run NT4 SP4 and have VB6 installed. There seems to be a pattern but I
cannot find it.
Specifically I’m trying to install it on Win 2K and Win XP machines
without luck.

The DLL does not do anything particularly strange. It uses the VB
Wizard Wizard to implement a Wizard for collecting various information
for the program.

All the dependent files seems to be available on all target machines.
I checked with depend.exe and similar. When the program containing the
component is installed it fails to register the DLL. Trying to
register it separately with regsvr32 also fails with 0x80004005 (i.e.
undefined error) so I cannot figure out what is wrong.
There does not seem to be any information in the Event Viewer either.

Everything of course works fine in the development environment.
I used the Package and Deployment wizard to build the DLL dependency
files and the program installer.

Is there any tool that can give me more information about what the
problem can be?

Thanks!
