Hi:
We are migrating our server from Novell to Windows Server 2003 and
currently we are running Windows 2003 and Novell Server 4.11 simultaneously.
We find some problem during trial run. Migration is successful and the
connection from Win XP and Win 200 workstation also seem no problem. The
problem comes from Win NT workstations. Our company has a network connection
to Novell Server, e.g. K:. We have many program shortcuts to K:\. After
migration, we try to run those shortcut from Win NT workstation. We find that
Win NT will try to connect to Novell Server. Once connected, it will map to a
unused Drive (e.g. E automatically and shortcut path will change to E:\ at
the same time. We think this case also occur for Win 98. To solve this
problem, we must delete all old shortcuts, and then re-create all shortcuts
to K:\ but this time K:\ is connected to Windows 2003 Server.
Is there any solution(s) other than OS upgrade so that we have no need to
re-create the shortcut for NT workstations after migration??
Thanks
