Hello,
I have a problem with an Access database that I think is being casused by
windows. The Acess forum has been unable to come up with an answer, so I'm
hoping someone here may be able to help.

When I try to link to an external object on a form, I get the following
error message: "A problem occured while microsoft access was communicating
with the ole server or active x control". I have removed and reinstalled
Access twice with the same results. If I try to link to the the same file in
Word or Excel, it works fine. It also works in Access if I copy the database
from another computer. The problem starts when I try to link to new files. I
have also tried creating a new database and linking to an object with the
same error message.

From what I've been able to find out in the newsgroups, I think it's being
caused by a file not being registered properly in windows, but I have no
idea which one it might be. I am using WinXP with SP2 and Access 2003 with
the office service packs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jim
