upgrading motherboard using onboard raid

I don't have this issue currently, but I'm in the market for a new build so I was wondering what would happen to your RAID arrays if you were to upgrade a motherboard using onboard RAID. Would you have to start your RAID array all over again?

No. The abreviated solution is to clone from your RAID to a single drive, then change hardware platforms, and clone from the single drive back to your new RAID.
