$350 for an FX60, $450 for an FX62, $550 for an FX64(doesn't exist) is not raping anyone. If it had been released before C2Q you would be singing the "of course two CPUs is faster than four" song.

Give it a rest.

I am still confused with the packaging of the QuadFX CPUs.

Are they in pairs, or are they single CPUs? The box, nor the sites have any information if what you are paying for is for one or a pair of CPUs.

The Newegg listing has a box, but it just says processor, not processors. Anyone have any idea?

Thank you for contacting Newegg.

Please be advised this item does only have 1 processor in the box.

Ah, thank you.

I was about to inquire from Newegg about that.
So, for the FX-70, it would cost $700 for both CPUs. Can the 4X4 run with only 1 CPU, even if that defeats the purpose?

*edit*
What happened to the "sold in pairs" thing that AMD mentioned? I could've swore either AMD or someone said these were gonna be sold in pairs.

If AMD's raping its biggest supporters by offering Quad FX, I don't see how the Pentium Extreme Editions were any different.

AMD had their 18 months and its over -- the dual cpu thats total junk - 250 watts --lol - maybe when u can get a quad cpu and make a octo-board out of it!

fuuny amd made fun of 130 watts and now they got 250 watt system

AMD died and is flippy like fish out of water!

E6400 overclocked smokes any amd chip! With the QE6600 at $600 you can say byby 2 by 2 or is it 4 by 4?

AMD got lucky since net burst did not scale to 10 gigs - when the leakage problem is solved one day and net burst will return as quadium! long live the p4 down with adat!!!

everyone says the built memory controller of amd is better - it would appear that the dual memory controller is the issue.

a bios update may fix that.

AMD is still a fish floppy out water - they need go back to emachines and sell their chips. I thin they should rename the fx-72 the fempron-7200+.

If a amd 5000 runs like 5.0 ghz pentium - thats what the name means. Now with the core 2 runs 50% faster i think they should remain the 5000 the 5000/2+ in fact it should be a 5000/3+

I must say... within 2 posts you have shown to everyone that you cannot be trusted and are infact... a moron.

QuadFX = Pentium in my opinion. AMD still makes good products.... just not as good as Core 2

Intel doesn't fleece people. They just don't play well with their partners.

Again, I ask, Microsoft does? If you use Windows or any MS product, Baron, you're being a hypocrite...

It's the same thing but I don't think NFS Underground or any other DX game would run on Linux or Mac. I really don't think Apple needs C# developers so Windows it is.

The CPU market is slightly different and MS even "gave" Apple money ($500M).

Oh, but you can run Unreal Tournament 2004 on Linux just fine. That's a VERY popular Windows game.
