GECUBE ATi RADEON X1950 PRO 256meg DDR3 Dual Link DVI HDTV Model:HV195PG3-D3 $299.00

MSI K9AGM-F ATi Radeon XPRESS 1150 Intergrated Video and 8 Channel Sound SATA PCI-E $109.00

GEIL TWIN PACK VALUE SERIES 2x 512meg (1gig Total) DDR800 PC2-6400 $199.00

ASUS PS2 Keyboard Silver / Black $18.00

SeaGate 250 gig 7200rpm SATA-2 NCQ 16meg Cache 7200.10 $115.00

The prices are australian, so dont worry about them. If you guys could check if this will all work together and that nothing will be underperforming, it would be much appreciated. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks heeps in advance.

Looks fine, but you'll be able to get a cheaper and higher performing Core 2 system. Also you should really consider dropping the extra for another gig of RAM.

IMO, I would choose a different motherboard, probably without onboard graphics.

I would also try to get the ram up to 2Gb and buy dearer ram with lower latencies, I achieved a noticable difference when configuring the ram to c4 timings over the standard c5 timings.

the AMD 5200 is still good though, if you get the stuff from msy its a bit cheaper, amd 5200 is $405

Ok. About when do you think i will be able to get a cheaper and higher performing Core 2 system. If i chose an intel cpu, should i then change to an nvidea chipset and graphics card?

Any motherboard suggestions? This was one of the cheaper ones that is suggested by AMD.

Ive sorta already gone a little over budget as it is, so a dont have a lot of room for getting better stuff.

As for the ram, i dont know what latancy is (noob). Just point me to where it says it in the name (is it the PC6400 thing) and ill see what i can do.

I was aiming for $1500-$1600 max. thanks

If your wanna stick with AMD, perhaps get the Asus M2N-E NVIDIA nForce® 570 Ultra Motherboard

Also check www.msy.com.au thats where i get my stuff, you can get some of the parts cheaper there, eg the cpu alone is a $24 saving,

So intel is the go for dual core at the moment? Im currently planning on buying of gamedude. As for the PSU, it is described as 'high performance, 500Watt P4 ATX Power Supply!'
Here is the link to the case/psu bundle:viper case

Yeah Intels core 2 duo Conroe cpus are the top shit at the moment well until k8l comes out??, so an intel setup would be better then an amd setup at this time, and intels cpus overclock better to.
an E6400 with a good motherboard with atleast a 965 chipset would be good

heres a website that i find good for those that are in australia and want the cheapest parts, http://www.staticice.com.au/ just put in whatever your after, computer part or computer related parts and it will give you a list of retailers from cheapest to most expensive
